After much number crunching and data studying, I have come out with a new pricing model for the year 2011. Pricing for all my cake toppers can now be seen next to each other on a single pricing chart.
You will notice a slight price increase for the Cartoony and the Elegant style. These are results of materials and fees that I simply did not know how to account for when I first set the pricing last year. Now that I have a year's worth of numbers and data, it is easy to see where I came up short.
The most drastic price increase for this year, however, is the Munchkin style. Originally I created the Munchkin style to be simple and budget friendly for my customers, but as time went on, the demand for more and more complicated Munchkin cake toppers increased tremendously. Before long I was spending twice as long on a Munchkin cake topper than I originally planned. So, instead of trying to limit people on what they could have, I have instead been evolving the Munchkin style whenever the opportunity arose, and eating the extra cost for the last couple of months. But it is now time that I need to charge properly for them. :)
Another significant change to the pricing will be how the "props" are going to be priced. Originally to keep things simple, I priced all the props by their sizes alone. Half way though the year, though, I realized that wasn't the best way for me to price things, as some props are a lot more complicated than others in design and will take much longer to make. This is especially apparent when I was requested to do anything that had wheels, which often took more time to make than the little people. So I will now be taking the level of detail into consideration as well as the size of the prop. You will see that change also in my brand new pricing chart.
